Dr. Killian Bates

Dr. Killian Bates graduated from Trinity College Dublin. He is trained in all aspects of family planning and general practice including postgraduate training in Vasectomy Surgery.

He has completed the Certificate of Special Skills Training for the provision of Vasectomy Services, conferred by the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (CCST FSRH) as well as obtaining diplomas in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Sexual & Reproductive Healthcare.

Dr. Derek Gallagher

Dr. Derek Gallagher is a graduate of NUI Galway. Following internship he completed a 2 year surgical scheme through the RCSI. He then entered a 4 year Irish Vocational General Practice training, finishing in 2010.

He trained in no scalpel vasectomy in the UK with Dr Laurel Spooner, the principal British trainer, and has been performing vasectomies in Loughrea since 2014. He is an active member of a worldwide group of vasectomists.

Dr Justin Kwong

Dr Justin Kwong qualified from The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2004, and proceeded to complete a Surgical training scheme and a GP training scheme, and was awarded a postgraduate membership with RCSI (MRCSI) and a postgraduate membership with the Irish College of General Practitioners (MICGP) respectively.

He has completed No-Scalpel Vasectomy training as dictated by the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (FSRH). He also has a special interest in Community/Minor Surgery, and is an active member of the Primary Care Surgical Association (PCSA), of which he is the winner of the 2018 Ross Ardill Memorial Prize for Community Surgery Research.

Dr. Michael Moloney

Dr. Moloney holds accreditation as a No Scalpel Vasectomist through the Association of Surgeons in Primary Care. His particular focus lies in the realm of family planning and women's health. He has achieved a Diploma in Obstetrics and Women's Health from the Royal College of Physicians.

Dr. Moloney's expertise encompasses extensive training in vasectomy procedures, including instruction from the esteemed Dr. Laurel Spooner. Dr. Spooner, a respected figure, serves as the president of the Association of Surgeons in Primary Care and is a council member for the Association of Surgeons in Great Britain and Ireland. Renowned as a trailblazer, she introduced the 'No Scalpel Vasectomy' (NSV) technique to the UK during the 1990s, having successfully conducted over 10,000 vasectomies.

Ryan Murphy
Operations Manager

Ryan brings a wealth of management expertise to Vasectomy.ie with over twenty years’ experience across the Medical, Pharma, Retail Banking and Insurance sectors. He joined the organisation in January of 2020 to support the implementation of a new operating model and oversea a brand refresh. He is responsible for the ongoing day to day operation and commercials of the organisation.

Helen Fee
Practice Nurse

Nurse Helen Fee joined the Lakeshore Medical Team in January 2019. Prior to this she managed a Pre Op Assessment Department in the Galway Clinic, and was also a certified trainer in Basic Life Support and AED for all medical staff. Helen also holds a certificate in Advanced Wound Care Management and has a Higher Diploma in Occupational Health and Hygiene, both from NUIG. Since joining the Lakeshore Medical Team Helen has been responsible for Vasectomy Pre Op Assessment Management & Counselling as well as Audit Input, Results Follow up, and Patient Feedback Surveys.

Tina Shaughnessy
Practice Manager

Tina is the longest serving member of our Vasetomy Service and has been an integral part of Lakeshore Medical Centre for over 20 years. Our practice manager has overseen the staffing, equipment provision and booking for the Vasectomy Service since its inception in 2014. She has recently attained a Diploma in Practice Management through the ICGP. She continues to structure our regular clinics, mindful of infection control. adequate staffing levels and ensure the facilities are in order for ongoing service provision.

Hilary Croke
Practice Nurse

After training at Trinity College and the Coombe Women and Infants University Hospital, Hillary worked in Hospital and Community Nursing Roles. She worked in specialised Family Planning Practice with Marie Stopes International in Ireland and the UK. She is an experienced Vasectomy Nurse.

Angela Higgins
Senior Clinical Administrator

Angela has extensive experience as a customer relations and account management professional in the medical and bespoke retail sectors. She holds a distinction in medical administration from CMIT, a certificate in office administration from RTC Galway, and a diploma in front line management from GMIT.
